Planing a leading edge on a door

When installing a door blank or window you must plane a bevel onto the edge of a door. This bevel is also known as a ‘leading-edge’.

Why do I need a leading-edge?

The geometry of the door dictates the need for a leading edge. The width of a door is less than the width between opposing edges. The problem is that the extra distance causes the door to touch or bind on to the frame before the door can close shut.
