dust extractor and planer

Cyclonic dust extraction

The cyclone dust or chip extractor systems are not new but have been around since 1885. Ever since the American John M Finch patented the concept. James Dyson only developed the concept for use in vacuum cleaners.

In my woodshop, I operate a cyclonic action extraction system form my machines but also the shop vac. I find these are highly efficient and far superior to standard paper filters.

Many dust extractor systems perform poorly and allow fine dust particles back into the workshop for us to breath in.

Mini-Gorilla Portable Cyclone Dust Collector

A great system which is ideally suited to the smaller workshop.

The Mini-Gorilla Cyclone Dust Collector is one of Oneida Air Systems’ best-designed products to date! Designed specifically for smaller workshops where the collector is moved from tool to tool, our Mini-Gorilla combines the quality and performance of a commercial system with the features and convenience of personal home units. Built to last a lifetime using industrial-grade materials, this portable system comes packed with new innovative features that have already earned it recognition as one of the best portable units on the market.

Recommended for tools with 4″ to 6″ dust collection ports, including lathes, jointers, shapers, planers, table saws, router tables, disc sanders, drum sanders, belt sanders, and more.

Jet JCDC-2 2 hp Cyclone Dust Collector

The bigger brother to the JCDC 1.5 this machine uses the cyclone action to catch the larger wood chips and dust. Below the cyclone, there is a container that can be lined with a bag.  The finer particles are then trapped by the 1-micron pleated filter. The paddle flicker mechanism plucks the cylinder filter from the inside which dislodges the dust to fall into a secondary bag.
